Extended platform devices support Serial connection through front PC interface.
The existing Quick Connect dialog box is used for both manual and quick connect options, and includes a range of possible ports, which may include:
If you select the File Transfer Mode via Serial Port option, select the serial COM port (of the PC or notebook computer) which is to be used from a drop-down list box.
Note
All the communications settings are fixed. The communication parameters for the ZMODEM Protocol can not be changed and are set to 115200 Baud, 8 data bits, no parity bit and 1 stop bit.
Now enter a name for the connection in the Name text box, click the Show me the Edit Communication Setup now box (if desired) and then click the Finish button.
The Edit ConnectionAn active link between a computer and a device through which data can be sent. dialog box will now appear, which shows the settings for this connection. This includes the ones which can't be edited.
When the File Transfer Mode via Serial Port has first been selected as the default (active) connection, a prompt is created to say that it is mandatory to set the device into file transfer mode too.
If File Transfer Mode via Serial Port was already set as the default (active) connection, the relevant prompt will be created during the Test Connection action as a reminder to set the device into that Extended Mode, otherwise the communication will fail.
