Overview - Studio Explorer

The Studio Explorer panel appears on the left-hand side of the MiCOM S1 Studio interface. It displays a virtual system of managed devices. The system is displayed as a tree with different nodes, referred to as elements.

There are several main element types, including:

Elements in tree view can be expanded or collapsed by using +/- in the tree view. You can also use the Studio Explorer toolbar to perform common functions.


The function of each icon on the toolbar appears if you hover the mouse cursor over the icon. Icons will be added to or removed from the toolbar automatically as you access different elements of your scheme.

Each element shown in the Studio Explorer panel has a set of properties - these are listed in the Properties pane on the bottom left of the MiCOM S1 Studio interface.

The properties pane shows details of the currently highlighted element in the tree view.

Opening Studio Explorer:

  1. Select View from the menubar.
  2. From the resulting drop-down menu select Studio Explorer.

This can also be done by clicking the Studio Explorer icon on the Main Menu Toolbar.

Opening Properties:

  1. Select View from the menubar.
  2. From the resulting drop-down menu select Properties.

This can also be done by clicking the Properties icon on the Main Menu Toolbar.

Search for an Element:

  1. Select View from the menubar.
    From the resulting drop-down menu select Search Results.
    Type a search term in the text box, then click the search icon to start the search. Matching items are displayed in the results table.
    Double-click the relevant row of the table to go to the item in the tree view.
